Dit was die Afrikaanse kultus-skrywer RR Ryger se eerste boek en word nou herdruk sodat 'n nuwe generasie sy ouer werk kan ontdek en sien waaroor die bohaai destyds gegaan het. Vir hierdie uitgawe het Ryger spesiaal ‘n voorwoord en ‘n naskrif geskryf. In die voorwoord vertel hy meer van die omstandighede waarin hy hom bevind het toe hy die boek geskryf het.

In die naskrif onthou hy wat die publiek en die resensente van die boek gedink het. Die Hol Gevoel gaan oor 'n jongman wat sy voete in die lewe probeer vind. Hy is 'n stiefkind wat deur 'n tipe religieuse-seks-kultusgroep grootgemaak is. Hy smag na liefde, maar sukkel om ‘n normale verhouding te hanteer.
