Petrus dra swaar aan die verlies van sy vrou en sy sig. Nou moet hy besluit wat van sy geliefde plaas, Pronkbos, gaan word. Toe sy gaan studeer, het sy gedink sy ontsnap. Nou is sy getroud met ’n man wat haar mishandel en bekommerd oor haar seuntjie. Petrus vertrou nie jong vroue nie. Anina haat ou mans. Tog besluit hulle om mekaar te help. Maar hoe oorkom jy jare se seer en wantroue? En hoe vind jy ’n aangenome kind as die ma doelbewus haar spore doodgevee het? Kan twee generasies wat op verskillende maniere en plekke mishandel is, mekaar ooit daarvan oortuig dat vergifnis die enigste weg na vryheid uit hul wrokkigheid is? Dis eers toe Petrus vir Anina en haar seuntjie na Pronkbos nooi en Petrus se seun ook daar opdaag, dat Petrus en Anina die vrede vind waarna hulle al so lank soek.
