About the Author:
Georgette Heyer is the original queen of Regency romance—the witty wordsmith who gave the genre its sparkle, sass, and swish of empire-line gowns. Long before Bridgerton was a twinkle in anyone’s eye, Heyer was delighting readers with dashing dukes, razor-sharp banter, and heroines who knew their minds (and how to outsmart a suitor or two).
With her impeccable historical detail, dry humor, and plots full of clever twists, Heyer practically invented the romantic comedy in a cravat. From ballroom intrigues to countryside capers, her novels are a delicious blend of Jane Austen charm and mystery-novel mischief—because yes, she also wrote a fair few whodunits!
If you adore sparkling dialogue, swoon-worthy slow burns, and a good scandal (with a happy ending, of course), Georgette Heyer is the timeless treasure your bookshelf needs.
A humorous and enjoyable read, filled with interesting Regency details and flawless grammar. The hero and heroine are relatable persons and not stunningly beautiful or devastatingly handsome as is the typical case with such stories.
