Nanki Robbertse was born in 1980 in Pretoria, South Africa. She was raised in a tight-knit family, and she is one of four daughters. Nanki grew up with a love for animals, writing, music, dancing as well as sport. Her desire to help people convinced her to study occupational therapy at The University of Pretoria. She is married to Iwan, who is a helicopter pilot in The South African Airforce. They lived on the West Coast for seven years and spent three years in Bloemfontein before they returned to their hometown Pretoria. Joshua, their first son, was born in 2012. After her second son, Kaleb was stillborn in 2016, she started The Hope Box Initiative. The Hope Box Initiative provides support, encouragement and hope to parents who have suffered the loss of a baby. Her third son, Uzziah, was born in 2017. In 2020 she registered as a Non-profit company called Hope After Loss. Currently, Nanki has her private practice as an Occupational Therapist, mostly working with children. She has a passion for sensory integration, neuro-atypical children and improving the quality of life of families. Nanki likes to spend time with God, her family, miniature Schnauzers, cat and African Grey. Nanki always had the desire to make a significant difference in the lives of others and therefor qualified as an Occupational Therapist. After her second son was stillborn at 39 weeks gestation, in 2016, she started The Hope Box Initiative. She makes hope boxes to give to parents who have also suffered from perinatal loss. It is her desire to provide support, encouragement and hope and to make the journey of others less lonely. She is married to Iwan and has 3 boys: Joshua, Kaleb (in heaven) and Uzziah. She currently runs a private practice as an Occupational Therapist, working mostly with children.
